How To Stay Fit During the Winter Holidays

With the holiday season setting in full swing, it becomes difficult to schedule time for your fitness and general well-being. The fun-filled Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings, shorter daylight hours, tasty food, cookies, and gift shopping - no wonder why so many people find it hard to keep up with their exercise routines during holidays.

The good news? With just a bit of flexibility and maintenance of routine, you can get back on the fitness track. If you are struggling to stay healthy during the winter holidays, I am here to help you out with some fun exercise tips:

Walk or run

Exercise winter

Staying indoors for the holidays shouldn’t be an excuse for you to quit exercising. Walk or run whenever you can. Going for a brisk walk for 30 to 45 minutes daily will lift up your mood while shedding extra calories. The best part? You don’t need any special equipment for running or walking. Just set the intention, pick up your coat, wear your joggers, and voila, you are all set to go! If that is not possible due to the weather conditions, a simple exercise or yoga session at home will keep any extra weight at bay.

Be realistic with your daily goals

With all the delicious treats and social events piling up, staying healthy during the winter holidays seems a bit difficult. The best way to tackle the lack of motivation is to be realistic with your fitness goals. Move your body daily - it can be through anything; exercise, walking, jogging, or yoga. Make sure that you are taking time out for yourself to complete your fitness goal. Indulging in any physical activity is better than engaging in none at all! Reward yourself after completion of the workout with a healthy treat.

Eat in small portions

portion control

What if I told you that you don’t have to completely deprive yourself of all the delicious treats during the holiday season? Sounds amazing, right? The key to enjoying your favorite foods without gaining extra pounds is to eat in small portions. Drinking water before meals also satiates your appetite.

Hope the above tips enable you to stay active during the winter holidays whilst enjoying them to the fullest. For more amazing suggestions; reach out to me or discover my other blogs.
